CyberPower’s Essential 2000 is a fair system at a higher price. The system we configured for this review has a gigabyte of RAM and a 200 GB hard drive. We also added a 17“ LCD monitor, speakers, a DVD burner and a printer. The final package has everything you need for a home computer, minus a media card reader, and costs $1,076.
The PC comes with Windows XP Home Edition and is sufficient for many home computing needs like word processing, budgeting and spreadsheets. It has a 3.2 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor with an 800 MHz front side bus. This lower–end processor isn’t dual core and doesn’t integrate hyper threading. We would expect something better in a home computer at this price.
The NVIDIA GeForce 6200 is better than average and sufficient for any of your home computing applications.
Bottom line, you can get the Silver Award home computer, Dell, for $200 less and it has a Pentium D dual core processor, a larger hard drive and a media card reader.
